Cultivating creative talents with global competence

In today’s era of globalization, the world is increasingly interconnected. People from diverse countries and cultural backgrounds are collaborating to address critical global challenges, such as environmental sustainability, energy security, and public safety, to build a better future for humanity. In this context, universities play a pivotal role in equipping students with the skills and mindset needed to seize future opportunities and tackle challenges. But how can this be achieved? The answer lies in fostering global competence—the ability to effectively learn, work, and communicate in international and multicultural environments.

As the first dual-Master’s degree program between China and Japan, our program leverages the unique strengths and resources of both Tsinghua University and the University of Tokyo to create an international platform for nurturing globally competent talents. Over the past 20 years, our collaboration has achieved remarkable success, with a total of 268 students enrolled and over 220 graduates who have gone on to make significant contributions to society.

Looking ahead, we remain committed to cultivating the next generation of global leaders with expertise in fields such as biology, nanotechnology, and social sciences. These graduates will not only drive innovation in cutting-edge technologies and social sciences in both China and Japan but also serve as bridges for deeper industrial and social collaboration between the two nations. Together, they will lead the way in addressing global challenges and shaping a brighter future for humanity.
