Fostering STEAM professionals with an international and global perspective
and an extensive network of diverse talent

The Science Tokyo - Tsinghua University Joint Graduate Program was launched in 2004 as Japan's first double degree program for graduates, and has been a great success thanks to the active participation of students who are enthusiastic about study and research in our two countries. The constructive and continuous close exchanges and cooperation between the two universities have generated mutual respect and allowed us to overcome various differences and difficulties. This, along with the strong support of our sponsor companies, has enabled the dispatch and acceptance of more than 250 students to the three courses of Nanotechnology, Bioscience and Biotechnology, and Decision Science and Technology over the past 20 years.

Building on this outstanding achievement, we will make new efforts to develop global human resources who are equipped not only with advanced knowledge and innovation capabilities in their specialized fields, but also with a broad worldview based on a deep understanding of the history, culture, and customs of both Japan and China, bolstered by rich and comprehensive communication skills that can be developed using Japanese, Chinese, and English. By leveraging their individual strengths and the network of diverse talent that will expand through the program, they will be able to contribute to the global and domestic development of networks in areas such as ESG (Environment, Social, Governance), SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals), and ELSI (Ethical, Legal, and Social Issues). In short, we will foster STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) professionals with an international and global perspective.
